“Caucasus Online”, a company operating in Georgia, is one of the major components of the “Digital Silk Way”. The company was acquired by NEQSOL Holding, a parent company of AzerTelecom.

Thus, the European part of the “Digital Silk Road” includes the fiber-optic infrastructure between Bulgaria and Georgia along the bottom of the Black Sea, which is owned and operated by  “Caucasus Online”.

The Black Sea cable with the length of 1200 km (constructed in 2008) has a capacity of transmitting 12 terabit/s. It is planned to increase the transmission capacity up to 16 terabit/s. It is estimated that with additional investment this capacity may reach 50 terabit/s traffic.
